Hey guys anyone on here any good with softies? I bought a whole heap off ebay & they're quite good lures I just haven't had any luck with them yet. i'm hoping to findsomeone else who is using them too.
Loads of people use soft plastics with varying degrees of success - a quick search of the site will find lots of threads about plastics, how to use them and where people have been catching fish.
What sort of lures did you get off ebay? I would have thought it would have been easier to get down the local tackle shop.
yeah i got a few off ebay before but they are normally the same price as what you would get them at a tackle store for, after you account for the postage. unless you buy them in bulk which ends up a bit cheaper... just becarefully what you buy because there are some that are a bit dodgy, and just don't have the right action.
I have a 8cm long fish type softie with lure hooks from the belly & a big hook through its back, curl tail softies, 6cm paddle tail minnows. I bought them all in bulk & it worked out heaps cheaper. Thier good lures I just haven't had any luck with them yet as noosa is pretty fished out & I don't have a boat to get to some of the good spots for fishing. I turned to hard bodies for now but I wanna make the most of what i've got in the softies range too. I bought 3 Kokoda softies on sale at amart all sports but i'm not happy with them, they don't have much tail movement.
if you go towards the mouth of the noosa river the last point before you hit the rock wall at the enterence, there is a shallow sand bank that drops into deep water (opposite the big sandbar in the middle), i have had some success of the bank here with SP on flathead, bream and goldies, there is a strong current but you can just bounce you Sps and the current will move it along like a drift so to speak. to get here you will have to park in one of the car parks as you head to the break wall and walk to the the point vire a sandy path.
Yeah fishy I think I know the place, i've been trying the woods & the dog beach nearby. Missed out on a longtom down the weyba walk bridge saturday arvo, it would have had to be huge & to be honest i've never seen such an agro fish besides a sharkl. I might try your suggested spot this weekend, do you recomend day or night time to hit it?
i was fishin late afternoon (2-4.30) on the run out last i was there. there is a bit of action early in the morning to though i got smashed by a big trevally in the woods on a popper, missed the hooks though.
Haven't added any poppers to my collection yet, I'm planning on getting some from barra jacks this weekend. The last couple of weekends the fishing seems a bit off in noosa.
Nah the local tackle shops are a bit of a rip, i've caught better fish on stuff i've got cheap like at all spors & kmart etc. Davo's & Barra Jacks are a rip off.
