We get more berkley drop shot rods returned than any other rod. The rod blank is very thin and is more fragile than many other graphite rods. However 99.9% of the time the rods have not broken because of manufacturers faults, it has been a case of fishermen buying there first graphite rod and not knowing how to use it. Both of your rods have been broken from inexperience and if they where any other graphite rod would have probably done the same. If you are going high tip rods and get the tips caught up in the gunnel buy a glass rod. What are the odds ? 2 in 2. i have caught thousands of fish on graphite rods and not broken a single one which goes to show if you treat them with respect you should have no problems. next time you go to a tackle store get the bloke there to show you how to load a rod up properly.

BTW way, what sort of prices are you looking at for a dropshot?[/quote]
I paid $60 for my 6'6 2-4kg dropshot (closing down sale) but usually see them for between $90 - $100.
yep jeremy is spot on, graphite is a whole new ball game for the "only used glass" player, and many an expensive rod has been the target of un warranted bad publicity simply because it is misused and misunderstood.
One important thing that I did not mention about these rods was that Pure Fishing were absolutely fantastic when I contacted them about replacing that section of the rod, eventhough I could not find my reciept and the shop I bought it from had closed down. They replaced it without question even when I offered to pay it was not a problem for them. Shipped it out on TNT, got it in a couple of weeks.
I guess what my real issue is that when I got the replacement it snapped on the first trip out...!!!
I reckon they're tougher than than they look. my missus has the 6'6" 1-3kg spin model and i borrowed it to pull a 45cm Mangrove jack out of the tweed river rock walls. Just about folded it in half like the chick in the Ugly stik ads
Great rods for the budget concious. although for similar money you can get a rack raider or a pfleugar trion. all have similar price & features, Just a matter of finding what suits you best.
