Anybody owned any of these rods?
I have had 2 and they have both snapped in the top section, once on a snag and the other time it was leaning on the boat and a fish took it, then it got between the boat and the sounder mount and when I went for the rod it snapped like a twig.
very dissapointed, wont go near these rods again!!!

I've got a few of these, and never had a problem with them at all. I've got one which lives in the back of my cruiser, and gets bashed around left right and centre, but even it's never had a problem...
must be my luck then.........I was hoping different

I've had 1 for about 18 months and it has also been bashed from pillar to post without problems. I personally think they are a great rod and represent great value for money

No problem with mine either, great value for money in my opinion.
Sounds like youve just been unlucky
they were both 6'6 2-4kg rods, its just me isn't it!!!

I've got a 6'6" 2-5kg 2 piece. That's the one that lives in the car
I've got a 6'6 2-4kg dropshot and mines taking a hammering in the last 6 months and its still in great condition. For me the rod is definately worth its money.
Mate I shut mine in the car door last week, you should have heard the cursing. Unlocked the door and opened it expecting the worst. Absolutely amazing not a mark and still in one piece. Its had a work over since then and all good. I'd buy another one and probably will.
hey you mentioned "one was on a snag" the worst possible thing for a rod is a snag and when trying to get it off, you "high stick it" which means lifting the rod to a near verticle position, as in this position the tip must bent at near right angles to the reast of the rod, not a good thing, it is similar to what would have happened when your other one was stuck under the sounder bracket, it has to bend too sharp and hey presto, two piece rod. this is twice as bad in a very fast taper rod blanck.
sounds like 2 extreamly unlucky experiences for me!!!!

Love them.I have a 6-10kg with a 4000 stradic 14lb fireline.Throw slugs at mack tuna,mackys.No problems.Sounds like you high sticked it when on a snag mate.

Just an idea next time you are on a snag....... NEVER reef the rod up and "high stick it" like noel mentioned. I point my rod direstly at the snag, so there is absolutly no stress on it, put my hand over the spool of the reel and pull back slowly. This is then allowing all the stresses on the line and line only, all you do is wait for something to give way and if you're lucky yoiu will get it all back.

My Wilson 6'0" spaghetti-rod lost the ceramic from the 2nd eye >
I don't mind paying top dollar for good gear (the missus does mind tho!) and after recenetly getting a couple of good reels, need to start looking at teaming them up with decent rods...
BTW way, what sort of prices are you looking at for a dropshot?
