Mate I use a cte400 these days, I have had millionaires, abu's, gold medalists,fluegers, etc, etc, etc
I rekon the cte is just awsome!!! Great drag, and bloody smooth.

For me , those wide spool baitcasters are out of consideration as casting reels , especially when you want to pin point cast from a boat .
If one must use Penn product then #955 would be the choise at 330 gr. , CTE300 is heavier by 20 gr. , perhaps this is caused by additional number of bearings in them and almost double the price !
I am happy with my selection of Shimano products , Daiwa has few very good products but they are not as smooth as the equivalent in Shimano range and just as expensive if not more so .

Go the Calcutta, they are an excellent reel that will last quite a few years if treated right which makes them worth the dollars.... well thats my justification anyway.
