    Calcutta 200B or Daiwa HRF

Being in Gladstone i want to start hitting awoonga a bit more frequently and none of my gear at present is appropriate for full time lure flicking so i'm gonna have to bite the bullet and buy myself a medium priced barra outfit. I went in to local tackle shop today purely to get prices on the calcutta 200B which they could do for $245 which i thought was pretty good. While talking to Phil he then started to show me the Daiwa HRF low profile style baitcaster which has a few benefits over the calcutta and it was only an extra $15. Looking for any comments or advice before i make a purchase.

    Cheers
    JD

I have a C200, but it is 20+- years old. If you wash it with a 19mm hose on a remote island, the drag will get wet.

The drag is not as capable as the HRF.

If you are in Brissie any time soon, or will be at Monduran on the full moon in November, send me a p.m. My c200 now has an Erskine drag, and my HRF is only a few months old

    CQ,
after just spending to days solid casting at Awoonga with a 200B and a Chronarch, I can tell you the low profile chronarch is a lot more pleasant to use for extended periods.
Only problem is the line capacity on the low profiles, especially if your planning on running the heavier braids.

I own a HRF and it is by far the smoothest reel I have ever used! Makes casting 25g lure all day a pleasure and it's got plenty of power to back it all up.

    if your only casting..
the hard rock is your best option, being that it is lighter and a heap smaller.
dawia low profiles are a dream to cast all day compaired to other larger barrel reels

Diawa Coastal 153H is exactly the same reel as the HRF, cept its not red, and its usually about $80 bucks cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 200B is a good reel, I sold mine after useing a mates 153H, and bought a "coastal" as soon as the shops opened on the Monday. Best drag I,ve ever used on a mid range reel, and a delight 2 cast. Strapped 2 a Heartland 5ft10 trigger its been the first combo I grab out of my rack for a while now. The whole lot for less than $300.

    cheers BB

    BB,
The coastal has less bearings and a different drag material and smaller line capacity...

The Team Daiwa Advantage 153 HST has the same specs as the HRF except for the line capacity, which is the same as the coastal and no spiffy red colour for about 10 bucks less.
    I'd stick with the HRF

    cheers, roo.
