    Delaminating Icebox

    Hi all,

I have an older, hand-laid style fibreglass icebox that appears to have reached the end of it's natural life.

The internal floor and sides seem to be delaminating and ballooning.
Does anyone effect repairs to these old boxes or is it more economical to discard and purchase a new one ?
This will be a hard decision as this old box has been with me for a long time and held many memorable catches over the years.

Any advice to help save an old friend welcomed.

    Cheers,
    Rich.

If the insulation is OK you could rebuild the interior. You may also be able to drill through the sides and add resin behind the area delaminating and then clamp or weight the side in place then patch the holes. Probably worth a try

    Cheers Neil,

Think I need to get somebody who is a little more familiar with repairs than I am to have a look at it.

Experience with F/G repairs = 0 hrs lol.

    Cheers,
    Rich.

Hi Rich you should try and talk to Grand Marlin as he works with fibre glass he might be agle to steer you in the right direction

    Thanks Neil and ken,

Have found a fibreglasser who has left the trade but offered to take on the repair for me.
    Appreciate the input.
My old friend will live again !

    Cheers,
    Rich.
