Samurai reel help

Hi All

I`ve a Samurai 1500 reel used twice in fresh water only and the drag is very jerky. Has anyone got any clues as to how to over come this. have taken the drag apart and all looks ok. the washers are made of a hard carbon like material with no give in them at all. also can anyone tell me are there better washers you can get to up grade all your reels or a product that can be applied to make the drags work smoothly.

I've got a samurai 7i 4000. it has the same drag features as yours. I'm not sure if it is worth fixing . I got mine from impulse buying at Anacondas big opening on the gold coast for under $50. so I shouldn't really expect too much from them. will make a good kids reel . In the same price range ($50 - $100) I think the shimano's are a better reel.

But thats just my opinion.

take it back to where you bought it and get em to fix it. iv been told daiwa are excellent with returns and stuff like that.

There are two types of samurai's... The Samurai & the Samurai Xi I think they are....

The normal Samurai is the lower end of the market, and the drag is smooth once it starts, but it is jumpy to start up. The other is a MUCH better reel... But also a lot more expensive.

Jack Erskine drags (if available) would be the best to replace them with.

Samurai-3i is the model bought on special I wouldn`t worry to much about it but I have it on a Wilson rod and it`s a nice balanced outfit that the "BOSS" loves so I will try to get some sort of drag system that works. I will check out the Erskine drags to see if available

Mate if you want a good budget reel then look at the shimano sienna range which go for 50-60 bucks, if you want a bit better go the shimano symetre.
