BCF has Berkley Fireline 4lb-14lb in smoke grey, hi vis green and fluro pink for $19.95 this month so if you head down to your local A.M.ART store they will beat that by another 10% bringing it down to $17.75..

I know i'm respooling this month!

Guys any tricks with backing braid -ideally i dont want to put 300 metres of 4lb braid on my spool so then youve got to guess how much mono backing to fill the reel up correctly? - bit of trial and error eh!! I kinda remember my old man using cork sheet to pack up a reel spool!!

    cheers Cam

what size reel do you have ?

generally with say a 1500 size spool, you should back up probly half way for 125 yds of 4lb fireline.

try not to fill it right to the edge because you will have problems with knotting and tangling etc. about 2mm under the extremity of the spool is perfect

    G'day
I have a trick here for spooling up. Do it backwards.

\tie the braid to the spool, wind it on , do yout braid-mono knot and fill with mono.

Pull it all off and tie the mono to the spool and wind it all on again. Simple!!

    Dave,

Ive thought about that one - but dont you have to wind it off the reel your using onto another reel then onto another then back on to the reel your using otherwise your just putting it back on with the braid at the bottom again > ?

    G'day

Cam, just strip it off onto the floor.... just dont pile it or it will knot.
Swap ends and off you go

    HMMMM!

Gee Dave i donno dont fancy taking my chances striping 300 metres of line on the floor and not getting a tangle! but thanks your thought.
I think id sooner wind it onto a couple of reels Cheers

Hercules braid at K mart. I think it's actually better that Fireline because it's not quite so stiff. 250m for $40
