Just wondering if anyone can let me know if these things are any good compared to a raider or similar rod?
Am looking for a light bass/bream rod - 1-3 kg, and I am able to get one of these half price. Is it worth it?

I recently got a BC stick of theres. Retailing around 180. Found it heavier then normal and wouldn't really buy one again. Haven't tried the spin stick tho....half price sounds good though....where at
the store we cannot name has 40% off all strudwick sticks. But was at one yesterday that had the standard sicstick already marked down to 99, and the guy there said the 40% off still applied - so $60 sounded like a good deal to me!
iv heard of probably half a dozen if not a couple more bad reports on them breaking at tips etc.
look into a pflueger trio 2-5 7ft
I've had mine for quite a while now and I haven't had any problems with it. I've heard the same reports as mad max about the breaking tips, but mine's been scratched across the roof a few times and smacked on the ground once or twice and is still going strong. That said, it is my first SP rod, so I don't have a great deal to compare it with. But for that price...

Fishing for the thrill, not for the kill
I wouldn't go with a SicStick cause i have heard bad warrenty stories off my local tackle guy & seen the snapped rods that were going for return that the shop had to repair @ their expense cause Strudwick wouldn't fix them..
Go a Raider, T-Curve or even new Starlo Stix Tournament Pro..
Broke the tip off a sic stick, even after being carefull, so wont buy another.
Currently fishing a drop shot for the sp's and have found it to be a good dureable stick for the same dollars
cheers

if your talkin about those blue starlo sticks Saint then they aint anything crash.
i think they are second hand blanks (like the cheaper shimano stuff), iv pikced up probly 8-10 starlo sticks that are crooked. and some i mean like 2cm bent left/right.
I agree with you that the Starlo Stix is nothing flash..Originally Posted by mad max
but the Starlo StiX Tournament Pro feels alot better in the hand then a T-curve & the T-curve is a great rod. I had both rods loaded & couldn't believe the difference..
I've got a couple of sicsticks and never had a problem with them. You do hear reports of tips being broken but this applies to other brands as well (see thread on dropshots for example). Like any graphite rod you should treat it with care, don't highstick it, drop it or bang the tip on the car roof, car door etc and it should last for years.
If you can get one for $60 then go for it.
Havent picked one up yet, will have a look around to see how they rate.Originally Posted by TheSaint

Im the fishing specialist a one of the said stores, id say wat that bloke said about that particular stik, a red ticket item is not going to be discounted off that red ticket price. id say he meant that the Original price could be REdiscoued at 40%, menaing that it would be around $80 instead of the 9 on the red ticket.
Now im saying what that bloke should have said, he may have said u could have the discount off that ticket price, but ull have to be luky and get the same bloke in the store again to get it, cause no-one else should sell it to u at that price.
can i ask what store/salesman that was?
cheers
PS to answer ur qestion, id prefer a rackraider, if u can afford it, the sikstiks do have blank problems in some of tem, so load it up b4 u buy it and hope u get a good1. that store is pretty good with refunds tho if somethn does happen.
