    Baitrunner 4500 - rod?

I picked up a Baitrunner 4500 while i was in the States on holidays and have been looking for a rod to match it with.

I saw an 8' Ugly Stick rated 6-8.5kg and was thinking that might be a good combo. Prob use it in and around the bay and on the my trips (not many) outside. The rod was reduced to $99.

Anyone got any opinions on this combo? Any suggestions on other rods?

I had mine on a 7' ugly stick in same weight up till very recently. Personally I think 8' is a bit long in a boat, but if you like them long, should be fine.

As I now use mine for floatlining with mono and it spends it's life in a vertical holder on the baitboard, I now have it on a rod with a gimble to stop it moving around every time the boat moves. Was just a spare rod I had that is an Ian miller shimano, 6'6'' graphite in 6-10kg. Probably a bit short, but was what I had spare and reasonably suitable.

I use to load it with 14lb braid, but if used for bottom bashing again I would probably load it with 20lb so it could be used for shallower offshore as well as deeper water bay use.

    G'day firetruck,

I matched same reel with a Shimano 6-10kg Steve Starling 7' Baitrunner rod - Got it at Super _Mart on special for a steal. Works a treat in the boat.

Thanks for the replies fellas, might consider something a bit more manageable in the boat.
