My TSS is my American Express outfit. I never leave home without it. It is not just a bit rough. It is a chiropractors delight!
When you have to rip a slug through the water fast though there is just nothing else for the money though.
Jez and Suze, Sent you a pm.
Craftycarp, I didn't send you one
YES the TSS4 is no longer going to be produced, these are the final stragglers, (parts should be available) shimano has something on the cards i heard,
these days im using an okuma force or an okuma epix 6.3:1 ratio, life time warranty, 5 bearings in the force 10 in the epix.
forces are $119 i think
Bring on the Marlin!!!
I also run a Tica Camry 4500 (6.3 - 1 ratio) worth around $135, nice and smooth but has cost me $80 in repairs so far to keep it going, not as bullet proof as the TSS4's.
Tss4's set the standard for spinning reels. Shimano might update it but it is going to be hard to beat an already undestructable reel. Out does any reel in its class and way ahead of its time.
does anyone know how much drag the tss4 is rated too ?
and is there any sort of upgrade for them for more drag
thanks
hi guys,
i have the predecessor of the tss4 as well as a 2004 model. the previous version was called an f4, i think, looks similar but smaller spool & drag assembly, same retrieval rate.
couldn't get spares for it anymore so bought a "new" tss4, neither of them have ever failed me in use,
regards

you can effectively lock a TSS4 drag down - it is almost an issue that you can't make it run freely enough IMO.Originally Posted by marco
