I bought one several months ago at Springwood Marine when they had one of their 20% Shimano sales for $160.

Gee, that is over the top. I paid $160 as mentioned above. At the time that mart that cannot be mentioned on this site was also having a 20% discount sale on Shimano and their price was somewhere around the $190 - $200 mark which suggested to me that they may have inflated their pre-sale price.

Having bought one at $160, I would struggle with going much above that now.

    Yeah Jim

$229 at Campbells as well + postage !

Sid, Springwoods standard price would appear to be around $200. I'm sure they'd give you something off it as an ausfish member if you walk in the shop (and if you bought some line as well).

Now there is an interesting thing - when I bought my baitrunner, I wanted to fill it with the finer Platypus Super 100 mono (which I have done). Springwood Marine did not sell it but what surprised me was that there was absolutely no attempt to entice me to an equivalent line in another stocked brand. I was a bit puzzled by that as a reel of fishing line can add quite a few dollars to the sale and I assume that the margins are good on line.

Picked mine up for $179 at Tackle Warehouse when they were doing a deal. Think they are usually $199.00 when not on sale. Usually pretty good and flexible if you are buying a few other items.
