personally I think for "all round" you just cannot go past mono, cheap as chips, and very forgiving, but braid has it's place, but I feel for general purpose do everything applications, go mono.

25lb shopuld be sufficient yeah?
i want top be able to fish with livies, slugs, divers and perhaps larger placcies on the bottom for snapper/jewies

maybe something like Platypus Low-Stretch mono, supposed to work similar to braid but with the softness of mono, haven't used it myself. I've got 10kg bionic braid on my tss4, but it only gets used for casting and spinning, gel-spun on 4kg shallow gear, mono gets used everywhere else.

Yeah I would give the Lo Strech Platapus a go as well. Will be repooling a few reels shotly wth the stuff

Re: Mackerel Braid vs mono
i got 18lb berkley trilene mono (low stretch) or you could go platypus platinum for an aussie made
braid and speedsters tend to open big holes in their jaws and the hooks pop out near the end - same with braid and jew - also them things got eyes like you wouldn't believe and will spot the leader join and hit it ...
