Seems like lipless crankbaits are the go now and probably have always worked as good just that as keen fishermen/women we want and use better equipment to say what we did 5 years ago. If I asked you 5 years ago would you spend 25 to 30 dollars on a bass lure I'm pretty sure I would know what you would say, spending that sort of money on a lure was only done on barra or offshore stuff etc and even then we moaned and groaned about that.

I wouldnt mind betting that in every marketing persons mind that saying goes around daily, I dont expect they would admit to it either.
Supply is met by demand, if they think they have a product and a prominent fishermen to promote it then chances are they will make a lot of money from people who believe what they see a clever fishermen ( with a camera crew, producer and of course an editting team back at a studio ) do on a DVD or at a comp.
How would you know if they cheat or use the art of deception ?
Do you think the real secrets and tricks to winning comps or catching record fish are just given away to all and sundry ?
There are some very clever marketing campaigns out there and they work.
Anyways that my little rant.
Surface lures are probably not the most effective bass lure but for me I cant go past the excitement of a surface strike.
Scotty
im in the same boat on that one Scotty i think i miss heaps of fish because im working surface lures when i know the fish are down deep, its just to hard to pass up seeing that one (or 2) fish nail that lure you are working on top of the water

Yep its hard to beat the jackalls Only real reason I use them from the bank is because of the distance and depth i can get out of them. But if on a boat and you see the fish schooling deep, any deep diving lure can catch them as well as the cheaper lighter lipless lures.
extra deep diving Hot Lips use to be one of our fav's purple, black n gold colours are good

Hey Brandon,
Your pretty game using them from the bank,
i feel you get snagged a lot more cast and retrieve from the bank than any other method.
i would be swimming if i got one hooked hehe
Cheers,
Ben

My bass fishing has been faily limited but, i have had most of my success with the tn60 camelion tiger, which i have found extremely hard to replace once you loose it.
I have caught bass on all the styles of lures listed except metal jigs and would not say that one style is better than the other. They are all designed for different applications so in a way can not be compared. Most of my bass fishing these days is done from a canoe up the top of creeks and rivers so what i would consider to be the best bass lure would alter significantly from impoundment bassers. For the record i tend to use alot of jackell chubby's, small ecogear lures and 3 inch gulp craws in punkinseed.
i did forgot to put tazzy devils in the spoon section of my pole and i ment the wonder wobbler and those old spining blade lures you get in the old $10 cheap kids combos instead of just wrighting, other metal lures sorry. i know the devils work but has anyone had luck on the other 2 i mentioned
