    G'day
Just have a look at the reports. The sp's have been a welcome addition, but you must first master them, as you had to to with bait.

More and more are going over to the "dark side" of plastics.

Personally I use both, plastics and float bait whilst drifting, there's a place for both.

Definately bait for me, infact the only thing I have caught on the plastics is a few crabs. In their defence I do fish in an area where they arent really big enough fish to take them.

    Re: soft plastics

I always find it more satisfying catching fish on plastics or lures (makes me feel like a true sportsman) But like Blackened I always try and have a bait out whilst I'm having a flick around.
I'd be pretty happy with 3 decent flatties on softies any day, well done.

Ahh... the lovely memories of long ago when I used to get mullet gut all over my hands and then get an attack of hunger and proceed to eat my peanut butter sandwiches. Now all I have to put up with is glitter bread peanut butter sandwiches. Been a SP convert for a long while now.

When chasing pearlies we like to use paternosters with one hook baited and one hook rigged with a SnapBack. Most of the time the pearlies go for the SnapBack.
Yeah, some women actually know a thing or two about fishing. Who knew?

    Re: soft plastics

the big thing with bait is presentation, if you have ever been prawning, have a look at a prawn swimming, it does NOT have a black head half falling off, it does not swim bent in a U trun and it is not anchored to the bottom with a kilo of lead, so if a prawn is to be used, it should be alive, and if not possible, as fresh as possible and laying reasonably straight on the hook, hey and that is only for using prawn for bait, all other baits need the same care and freshness, or, better still alive! then your catch rates on bait will be maximised, but lures of all types work well when used correctly, plastics ore just a 'buzz word" at the moment.

    Re: soft plastics

I have always old schooled to use bait, but with recent reports on SP's I have decided to educate myself on how these things work. All though I haven't wet a line with SP's yet, I have defiantly changed my entire tackle and accessories to suit the next few trips as SP education.

Pretty much the same here too DaMaGe...I have bought that many SP's and lures and grubs etc from Ebay that my wife will kill me if I buy one more. I haven't really hit it yet either and am gathering as much info as possible. We gave it a try at Noosaville a few weeks aback and got a couple of hits on pumpkinseed 2.5'' pogys. Will give it a big one down at Burleigh area over xmas/new year
