Running mine with 30lb - sometimes not enough fishing SPs offshore but more worried about the rod than the reel.

30lb is that around 8lb diameter???
I dont do offshore fishing that much so it won't be a problems for me...beside i only use a fiberglass rod 8-10KG, will upgrade to a better rod when i have the $$$$.

The Kix can handle a fair bit of drag for a little reel, but no point overloading it if you are only fishing inshore without the need to put the brakes on bigger fish. 20lb should cover most things.
