What would the maximum amount pound line could i put on it. I currently have 15lbs fireline but i'm going to respool it. I was thinking of putting 20lbs platypus super braid, is this ok???

you can put whatever line you want on it, but 2 kg is about the max drag you can 'comfortably' get out of the reel and 3 kg drag would be sunset and will shorten the life of the reel.

Hey scoocer101,
What are your plans with the reel? What species are you targeting? What situations will you be fishing in (Timber, Weedbeds, Rock)? My mate runs 30lb on his, which is probably the maximum I would run on these 5600's.

mate i have a 4600c4 with 20lb penn braid which i use for cod,
had the reel for three years now and works as well as the day i got it,
ambassadeur reels just seem to go and go
great reel, i dont think you will have any trouble with that braid
Cheers,
Ben
I used to fish with one for barra at Teemburra Dam and used 20lb and then upgraded to 30lb braid which was fine and still gave me good casting distance.
Gday scoocer
Mate Iv'e been using 65lb tuff line on me 5600 becauce the 30lb is bloody hopeless around the granite rocks , the 65lb seems to handle a bit of a scuff up better. Good for barra just have to sacrifice the thumbs and still casts 30 odd meters.

Hey scoocer, I use 30lb platypus on my 5600c4 with no dramas. Just try and choose the lightest line to suit your fishing style.
thanks guys for the replies. Well i would like to put hopefully 20-30lbs line for barra fishing but i would also like to use it for some small palagics like tuna and the likes. I'm leaning towards using 20lbs and i would be fishing weedbeds at awoonga and monduran. If you guys think 30lbs is not to heavy then i will certainly use it. The rod i got is a ambassader pro and it is 8-15kg (1.7m long).

Yep like others have said ive got 50lb on my 4600C4 just use the thumb to help turn the fish, doesnt burn that bad![]()
Used one of these for the first time on saturday..... It had 30lb Super Braid on it, and I am waiting for payday to look at buying one! They are the best casting overhead I've ever used!
Gday Dan
Mate I have to agree with you there , I bought a dawia cvz 253 a while back and used it for a couple of weeks ,now I'm using the old 5600 all the time. The dawia seems every time you want to do a long cast the bloody line level is right over one side and the line grabs and the lure lands way short of the structure. >
