Yeah the Stren knot is a goodie... Make sure you test it out big-time before you start fishing. I like to get a set of thick gloves and pull as hard as I can to make sure she won't let go. If your interested in learning another good knot/s, try the Spider Hitch to a Tony Jones Leader knot... Blooooooody strong!

Umm... not too sure about that one. My understanding was that the stated breaking strength on fireline was actually the knot strength. It seems more likely that way to me, as I've used 6lb mono and 4lb fireline and there's no way the mono could compete for strength. I may be wrong though.

You're probably right Joel. In geoff Wilson's knot book he states that braid always breaks, well above it's stated strength.
