    Re: squire hooks

What bait are you using, I only use Gamakatsu hooks buy a pack and compare them to any other any hook on the market I cannot find a sharper hook.
For gangs I use Gangster in 3/0, 4/0 and in singlse I like the Baitholder in the aforementioned sizes and bigger depending on fish size and bait type and size.

the old 92554 mustad "suicide" is good, very strong, cheap and readily available, the cheap Supermarket imitations are about a quarter as good! dodgey eye, weak material and prone to bending/straightening.

    I use a quality Mustad.

3/0 or 4/0 depending...... generally may have to change sizes depending on what or if you're catching on the day.... have had to up to 6/0 if they are big enough

we mainly use about a 4/0 size suicide pattern but varies with bait and fish size. Sometimes a fly hook will suffice

Mustad Big reds or Penn suicide. Not sure of the coding for the penns but they are Side by Side @ K*mart and made by Mustad for Penn. and slightly cheaper in the small packs. The bulk packs are good value in the mustads.
Not sure if these the bees knees tho" but are easy to find and cheap to own.
    cheers, roo.

    G'day

The only hooks i will use for reef when using bait is the gamagatsu octopus circles. 5/0 for inshore reefs..... 8/0 for outside.

Very sharp, black so they dont stand out, very strong and about $26 for a pack of 50

    Re: squire hooks

Yeah, I'm a gama fan, suicides for the rocks and surf, circles for at sea, gangsters for pillies.
Also like Mustad penetrators and Demon finewire circles, both styles thin and sharp.
4/0 to 8/0 depending on style, bait and fish size.
    Cheers.
