Flex,
I have pretty much have had the same trouble there was testing done a while back. The Bimini was on of the strongest but as you said if doing 70 turns.
P.s how do gusy and gals do the twist in the bimini?
Aj
to just draw out a point Noel M made, a knot you can tie well every time is probably better than one that is theoretically stronger, but which is harder to tie.
Quick to tie is good too. I have sometimes abandoned plaited doubles and nice leader knots for less ideal knots in a hot NT jack bite.
Toby, with that gear, I guess you are going to have weak knees and trembling fingers; not good for knots get into it and good luck

anyone out there used a double overhand knot or as also called surgeons knot - wont get a simpler knot to tie but dont know about tying it to braid works well mono to mono??!
i have trouble threading the line through the figure 8 with a slim beauty.
here is a simplified version that appears to work..

Someone wanted to know how to do this connection.
This is how I make up my twisted leaders. I posted this up quite a while ago but anyhow here it is again.
The pictures pretty much tell the story and I have successfully used this system to land meter + Awoonga Barra and other large fish.
Depending on the leader material you have to experiment a little with how long you spin the line with the drill. To long and some Mono's sort of melt, to little and the line do'es not twist up.
I make up ten or so at a time, coiling up and placing in small plastic bags, if the leader gets frayed after landing a large fish you can somtimes cut the leader near the bimini loop and by pulling the loop open it flicks the end of the leader off and you can re-attach a new twisted leader without re-tying the Bimini loop
Hope this helps (and hope the 2 attacements work)
