    Sand Pumping jetty

    Sun Night/Monday am.
With the rig sitting in the neighbours dam, due to trailer repairs. A 3 day w/end, nothing on the box. The neighbour
Jeff and I decided a bit of land fishing was in order. So
Sun evening off to the Jetty, arrived 5.30 after collecting some livies (herring) and set off on the long walk. Storm
clouds on the horizon, didnt look promising. More Orientals
on the jetty then in Se Asia. Started with the gutter towards
the Wall. Medium surf rods (Alvey 650bc Complements of
Ausfish) and a couple of Shimano 7' estuary rods. Bait
(herrings/squid/mullet gut/plastic twin tails and raider 20g lures). High at 5.30pm, 1 1/2 hrs passed small bites couple small tailor and plenty of weed. Moved to the end (shoulder to shoulder with the above) to try the deeper water.
Set the alvey out with a live tailor under a balloon. After
1hr some small bream and choppers, then the alvey screamed, line peeling off faster then a Holden v8, tighten
the drag a little more, i reckon 200m peeled off before i
started to get some retrival, got back about 50m, then
what ever , decided the contential shelf was the go, every
orinental on the jetty giving instructions, one even had the
hide to asked for the rod(should have threw a 10/0 in him and put him in the water, and still the line peeled off , started to see the bottom of the reel
so tighten the drag a lot more (Twang) 300m of 12kg
berkley trilene gone (shark/big jew or cobia) now has the
longest tail of any fish. Then the heavens opened up and it
pelteddown. raincoat or not you got wet, so up gear and home. Decided to go back in morning, arrived back at
jetty at 4.00am weather perfect, couple of surf rods this time. livies were dead so double
gangs were in order, fished the same gutter midway along
and received some rewards, dart/choppers and bream
lost a few due to height, no gaff so down to the beach for
a change. between the jetty and wall, nice gutter inbetween
the two breaks. Landed some good bream and dart .
Left at 9.00 (5 bream/3 dart/1tailor with us) the biggest
bream when just over a kilo.
bream on herring/dart on mullet gut
Doubled up some pics to show size difference.

Bad luck on that one brian would have been interesting to have seen what it was. Seems though you had a good time apart from the rain and the fishing pros around you.
I cant believe that he asked for the rod.maybe you should have used him bait.
Anyway good to hear that you at least came home with a feed.
    Cheers
