hey nugget,
any chance of you posting a pic of that mullet hungry jew you got - I'd luv a look. I've got a week off coming up & I was planning on soaking some tuna/tailor slabs off straddie but after sundays show, I may seriously consider livebaiting the surf instead. Cast netting the surf eh, any tips.

I didn't take a picture myself although Peter Hastings from Jacobs Well Bait and Tackle did when I was back at the boat ramp on the way home.
As soon as his film is developed I'll post a picture.
The trick (hard part) is to find the mullet in the surf - once you find them the rest is simple.
A couple of knee deep cast net throws and you'll have all the bait you need.
If you have 4x4 access it might be worth taking some along - which was too difficult on South Straddie.
