Offshore Gold Coast 10jun
With the weather so perfect after a weekend of wind and rain
Headed out to the 29's with "Reddog" and "Adrian". Left
the G/coast at 6am, wind around 8kts and sea state fairly
smooth. With a 45min run to the spot. We started our drifts
mainly bottom rigs and floaters. 4 drifts over this spot
produced 7 good Parroties, then off the bite. Moved to a
different location, with some nice wire weed below, after a
few drifts for 1 Pearlie around 1.5kg.
Current was getting stronger so moved again, to a area with
a good drop off. Commenced our drifts and hit a good
patch of Squire, landing 8 good size squire and 3 very
decent Blue Morwong. By 11am with the tide running strong
and the S/Easter picking up the sea state started to
deteroriate, so moved into the Shallows, but only struck
small pickers.
"Reddog" even managed a Grinner (a red one at that) in
80m of water. Reckons his little Abu could have handled
these depth ???
While "Adrian" toiled away for a lot less on the other side,
Just wasnt his day, sleeped in, forgot his sunnies, left his
esky at home in the rush, then though his Gemini was a
HSV the way he came down the M1.
Anyway by 12.30 we had 18 good fish on board, so headed
for home. Everyone having a great day a feed to take home
and saw arms.
