    LIVING IN THE NT

I've just got back to Gove after a three week holiday across the Top End.

Spent the first week on Elcho Island and had four good days out. All up boated 50 Barra, 15 fingermark bream (golden snapper) numerous species of cod, 1/2 dozen blue salmon and the biggest giant travelly I've caught to date. Pulled the scales down to 25lb.

From there back to Gove where a mate flew out from Darwin. Went out in the harbour here and got into some good reefies, everything from stripies, nannygai, grunter trevally, jewfish, coral trout etc etc etc. Did a bit of trolling in a mates boat and pulled in a nice Spaniard - 15lb. He was foul hooked in the side so was like pulling in a bucket.

Then loaded up the tojo and headed across to Maningrida. Spent the first couple of days land based due to the weather (only had a 12 foot tinnie) but managed a couple of threadfin salmon and barra. Finally got out in the tinnie but had no luck. Fished for two days but tides were big and the Liverpool River was all dirty. That and the fact a Pro barra boat had some nets out kept the fishing down. Did manage to get further up the Liverpool than I'd been B4 and had some fun casting at a couple of baby salties and having one grab a bomber. ???

Then into Darwin and played up in the pubs B4 I drove back home. Am in the process of getting the tinnie ready for the wet season here when the winds drop off and I'll be into it.

Love living in the NT. 8)

Great Place aint she, spent 3 years there before Tracy and another 12mths after the demolitation??, fished places like the east alligator and arnhem land, before they turned it all into what it is now, hows the old Humpty Doo Pub going, used to be some great lagoons for barra on the left heading out past the pub. would love to get back up there one day. Only probs was i left near a alcoholic, nothing else to do except fish and drink. They didnt have glass beer in the pubs then you had to asked for tinnies only. have some great nightmares of the parap and beramah when they used to have black and white bars, buy the end of the nite u didnt know what bar you were in.
enjoy yourself while it lasts, too become a terrortians back then you had to 1. skull a darwin stubby 80oz
    2. wrestle a crock 3. make it with a local.

    regards
