Are you fishing for any particular fish, whiting flathead bream. The rocky points off scarborough can be good. Landbased fishing from these areas can be very hit and miss unless you are prepared to move around and try and find the fish. Your best bet off the hornibrook is to float white pillies or jig plastics up against the pilons in the deeper water and you could score some of the bigger bream if they are around. the hump closer to Brissy has deeper water and you can pick up a few chopper tailor if your lucky and the flatties will still take the pilly.

    Cheers,

    Simon

Hi chad, you might want to try the Woody point jetty at night mate. Some good fish have been landed off there but I suggest a still night.
The beaches at Margate ...Suttons Beach are noted for big whiting in summer so thats worth a try too mate.
As for the pine river you're best to go upstream if you can and try for the elusive mangrove jack.

    Chad,

You could always hire a boat from the two companies that operate there. Trolling for flathead has picked us up some good fish there this year and in winter the river is usully pretty full of diver whiting.

    Good luck

Re: new to pine river again

    thanks guys,
i know there is bears and dohles boat hire and was contemplating on whether i should go out there.as for the sandgate side of the hornibrook,i have been near the bridge(right next to it on the open side and found that one hit and the baits gone.i bought a prawnstar jig and nothing seems to want it around there.
sorry grunta i cant come to mission on the 19th but maybe next time.ive got some old friends coming down from up north.
ive met harrya on here and he wants to take me on his boat up and down the pine so it should be good.
what has been caught on the jetty at margate? im fishing for anything i can catch and eat (fussy arnt I).well thanks guys youve been helpful.
how do i go about looking for the elusive jack?ive never been for them before but heard they put in a good fight.what conditions do they like, where and what bait do i use.

    cheers

Mate anywhere you think u might find a bream like on the edge of a creek where there r snags and places to ambush. Find An area that is out of the main current and the water is a bit still, lob a live bait (herring or little poddy mullet will do ) quietly near the snag and just maybe there might be 1 there. The elusive buggers. lol
