    howdy all,
can anyone tell me what the cotton tree caravan park in maroochydore is like at fishing?
im going up there in a few weeks and wondering if its worth taking the gear in the car or not.
ill be fishing on the shore so can only really be around the shore line to mid water if the river is not that wide.
    what can i expect??
cheers guys and gals and happy fishing.

Chad, take it.. It's a popular little spot right on the edge of the van park and theres enough bream and whiting and stuff there to keep you amused.. Quite scenic if nothing else.

Nice spot to fish. In september caught some flathead flicking whitebait, plus some pike on the high tide. Saw a guy catch a nice size bream from the other side.

yeah mate its sand from memory and there are a few bream whitting and flatties around as well as lots of small dart. Youll have to work hard to get the decent fish night time and early morn are by far the best. off the sand bags in the surf people often get tailor and bream on pillies.

HI Chad I go there every year for 4 weeks at Xmas time mate and the fishing is pretty ordinary then due to the bloody jet skis but having said that some big flatties and huge whiting get caught off the bank there.
The tide runs like buggery so pick your time carefully preferably at night with a new moon. There is a shit load of bait fish to be caught at night in cast nets with plenty of poddy mullet amongst them.
If you're patient, fish at night with the right bait you will definately get fish there and it is an absolutely prestine location so don't tell anyone about it.

another good spot close to there is the rocks on the north shore of the river mouth - drive over the bridge on the sunshine motorway and take the first exit. follow the signs to mudjimba and then along the beach - there are some top spots to flick for flatties along the stretch of river to the mouth and the small headland fishes well for bream and choppers when there is a gutter.

I was up there on the weekend fo r abit of camping.Saw a a nice flatehead come out of the surf side of the bar and Tailor just on the edge of the drop off as it turns the corner. Flicked a small shad Sunday morning and had a 75mm flathead attack a 50mm shad. Just goes to show you how aggressive these little guys are. Nice place to flick some plastics when the tide is right.
