Tingalpa Creek 4th time.
Hi People, Mrs Aquarius and i headed for Tingalpa Creek at 8am this morning in the 10ft 4hp boat....Our goal was to bag a muddie or two and throw some soft pastics around the rocky banks.
We motored up past the 1st road bridge and dropped the 4 pots in the deeper water as the tide was on the last half of the ebb.
We then travelled for 3 or 4 kilometres up the creek in search of a good spot to cast some lures close in towards the mangroves.
2 or 3 other boats were cast netting for prawns in the upper reaches of the creek but only managed small amounts of prawns from each cast.
We decided we had passed a rock bank some k's back so preceded to head back down stream to anchor up and start flicking soft plastic slider grubs into the rocky structure.
We had 2 hits but both times were taken straight back into the snags and it was start over again.
Every other slider grub came back minus the tail section....whatever was down there was just nipping it below the hook....I even tried shortening the plastic but still the same thing...must have gone through a dozen grubs today!!
From 4 pots we caught and realesed 4 muddies, 1 just under size and the rest small ones.
Also trolled some lures for flathead but no sign of these elusive fish at this time of year.
When the wind is howling and the white caps are around thats the time to cruise around the many sheltered rivers and creeks.
If ya catch something well thats a bonus.....We came home without a feed but hey its an outing and thats what fishing is all about.
Cheers Brent
