Bjelke - Petersen Dam, The boom continues !!
Was fortunate enough to venture up to Bjelke-Petersen Dam over the Christmas break.
This was the forth trip I've made to the area since mid October and again the action was just splendid !!!
The technique for catching the resident Impoundment Natives has been quite simple. Troll medium to deep diving lures along the edges of the sunken river bed and any underwater hills.
Lures such as Polterguists (purple 3m +) Fat Rap's (perch) have accounted for plenty of fish, but most lures we've tried have produced the goods.
I have included a few 'Happy Snaps' to show the quality of these fish.
Happy Hooking !!!
Craigie.

Jaybee,
We only caught the one 'Jewie' so I released it.
We kept enough for a feed each night. 4 fish that average 40+ cm each was a great feed for the three of us that fished each day.
Fresh Bass and Yellowbelly when prepared correctly (filleted and skinned) could be passed off as Sweetlip !!! Many people would be surprised !!!!
We have caught approx 120 legal size fish on lures in the last few visits to Bjelke-Petersen Dam (October - December 2002), have not thrown a soft plastic up there yet.
We release most of these fish, don't go there for the slaughter just for the fun !!!
Cheers
Craig.
