Well arrived back from Monduran dam yesterday after a great 4 days on an excellent dam with great facilities and very friendly camp managers in the form of John and Jacki Fox extremely helpful and great to have a chat with.Now to the tale of woe arrived Friday to 30 knots of SE apparently not that flash for Barra fishing, but hey we were on Hols so randall and I worked the edges of the old river bed tossing lures to the edges beside the trees and bringing back to the deep water did this for 4 hours with a couple of catfish as a result. Did the same on Saturday morning after awakeing to what felt like a cyclone which had been blowing all night, same result with a few more catfish and a couple of Bass, we both got the S^%*$ so decided to head to the Elliot River and fish the salt called in at THE BIG FELLAS for a coffee he told us we were girls he'd caught fish in this sort of wind gave us a few pointers and a handful of lures each so we headed back to the dam to set up camp and regroup again. Out we went again Saturday arvo this time working snags in the backs of Bays for the same result a few catfish this continued until Monday when we had an absolute SNORTA OF A SESSION only problem it was on YOU GUESSED IT CAAAATTTTFFFIIIISSSHHH at the end of the four days the count was 44 catfish 1 an absolute SNODGER of approx 5 kgs and 8 Bass. But I must say this is a excellent little dam with excellent facilities and as a great man once said I'LL BE BARCK.

Catfish is my lasting impression of Monduran too. On the only trip up there we managed a few on lure and live garfish. The humble catfish is under-rated sportfish, fish harder than the slack bass. But a whole long weekend of them may be too much. My brother-in-law also managed to hook up on cow corpse too.
I've been been using my GL3 665 on tuna. Handles Mac Tuna OK, no problem. 12kg Longtail are bit of a problem though. 665 doesn't have the backbone of a 15kg short stroker, and the capacity of the CVZ-253 is not quite up to a TLD20.

It's a shame i have not got more time to spare to come up and show you how to catch the big ones[barra] .Just returned from 6 days at foster on the mid north coast of NSW.Had a ball.The mornings were calm,ideal for tosing plastics around the leases.When the wind picked up ,called it a day .Went shopping for more tackle[you can't have enough].Landed around a 100 flattie and a few bream.Will do a report when i get the photo's developed.

Yep bring it on can't wait till faust comes around again a great comp with an excellent atmosphere. But Monduran hasn't got me beat if theres barra in there I will return for round 2 they may have won the battle but not the war.

i have fished that Damm Dam 6 times in the last month or so and would have been luckey to have seen 10 all up.(lots of Barra but ).
the dam is like all fishing, on one day off the next...100
you have just got to keep casting,no matter what wind is blowing,i have been fortunate to get some great fish in really bad wind on the dam.

Please send a photo of one of your 115cm plus impoundment barra. . here is a simple question .If a so called fisherman will not toss a lure at big barra because he thinks he can' land it, or his to scared.Does that make him a pussy

Can't wait till september.Talked to lindsay of prossy bait n tackle yesterday.he said they;ve been getting a few around the 110 mark in the timber.God knows how big the girls will be come spring.They mite even frighten the big george [think not].Can't say that the swano wan't be a bit aprehensive.
