Mooloolaba Today
Hit the water at 7am, plenty of livies showing on the sounder, lost 4 jigs (screaming runs on 10lb) before catching enough livies for a session, plenty of bigger stuff showing on the bottom, had a problem anchoring wind against the tide, but the tide is running downhill, a good sign. Score Mack Tuna 2 x6 kg, some on salt for chewie some frozen for sushimi, red throat sweetlip x 3 average 2.5 kg 1 parrot 2kg, 1 blue marlin that really lit up and jumped all around the boat, he grabbed a livie as it was sinking around 10 ft under the boat, estimated weight 25-30kg, cut him off for another day when he was eventually bought to the boat. Weather has detoriated, no night trip tonight, will have another report after 8pm tomorrow night.
cheers
joe.

Re: Mooloolaba Today
Did you get any pics of the marlin jaybee, havn't heard of a blue being caught in the shallows before. Sounds like you had some fun.
Cheers

Re: Mooloolaba Today
wasnt me mack was my bro, i am only doing the report for him, i am up there friday and or saturday, depending on wombat and the weather, my bro caught a couple of blues this time last year only kept one pic attached plus a black the next day he kept. A charter operator found out and they bought their board out to the caravan park and took some picks to make it look like they caught it. He said the same as you about blues, unusual to catch them in close, but someone on the board last year said it was common, but my bro ended up on tv and in the newspaper for the catch. Cant give the gps away have already given it to one person on the board in exchange for a spot but can say its only around 30 mtrs and a 15 min trip. Top eating piece of meat tho wombat can attest to that, as my bro dropped a lump off here on the way home. more photos here from march last year.
