    Brisbane River

got to the brisbane river at 8:40am. Burleyed up and put bait X on the hook with Burley X in the water
In the end 3 catfish one which i used for live bait for sharks (didn't get any) and 2 i let go one being an absoulute monster at about 40cm. Didn't put up much of a fight. I was using 6lb line
anyways real hot day but good day nonetheless

When i was a younger fella, I used to hit the Brissie River. The best catfish (fork tailed or blue cattie) my mate and I ever landed was 52cm... we caught a few at this length and assume it was the same one.

You need a biggish hook though, 2/0, as they like to suck the bait & you'll never hook them otherwise.

What sort of rig do u use to target sharks in the Brisbane river?
    just one more cast........

    ok mate
starting from the top I have a swivel, 30cm of 30lb mono with the float and a heavy enough sinker to keep the cattie under and to keep the float sitting niceley in the water. Under that I have a 60lb wire trace covered in that black plastic, and at the the end a nice big hook. People say that a 4/0 if good but seeing as my traces already have a swivel and snap lock they cost a lot so i use a big hook so as to make it easier retrieveing
    cheers jack
