Spanish
Went out with Billo this morning, put in at cleveland and headed 40ks east of there, good run till the rain started
The fishing was slow while it persisted, only 1 yellowfin decked by billo, As luck would have it the rain clearing coincided with high tide.
Within minutes the short lure was belted by a screamer, hooks pulled unfortunately ??? then the long lure was hammered, the fight mostly consisted of winding in all the line it took, not a very dogged fight which ruled out wahoo, sure enough a decent spanish ended up on the gaff, 130cm est.
Mactuna came on the bite about then, tally 7 hookups 4 decked, 1 sharked, 2 quick releases I was into a tuna While billo cleared the lures, his retrieve was halted by a decent wahoo, nothing runs as fast, the line was ripping through the water that hard you could here it, A few minutes later billo had his first and not the last I bet
Trolling back to the bar, the biggest stripey Ive seen round here took a pusher, 6 or 7 kilos, more reef bait, Lets hope for calm seas this wk end hey
Rob
