Leanne organised me to take her teaching friends son out for a trip. He's just got mad into fishing and has landed one bream from the banks of the logan and that's it.
Took the little tinny and headed to Cabbage tree. Left the two girls on the beach and headed out with Liam 11 and Lexy 8.
Haven't fished with kids much - especially not in a small boat. Three hours later - minus two bags of bait and no fish. Lines would have been lucky to be in the water more than 30 secs at a time. As soon as I had cast one rod out the other kid would have wound theirs back to the boat.
I tried to bribe them with lollies - drinks - you name - did you think I could get them to keep their lines in the water.
Needless to say no fish.
Back to Cabbage tree for lunch where I picked up Liams dad and Liam again and headed out for a second time. Two hours later three flathead to 55cm and a 28 cms bream plus heaps of littlins. Three sandies - all caught on rods. Liam got one crab and his dad and I shared everything else. He still has only got one bream under his hat.

Mate, next time that happens, if you can manage it , take the tinny and kids to eudlo creek at fishermans bend on maroochy river. (1hr north of bris vegas) fishing there has saved me more times than I can remember, especially when using little 'squirt' and having friends tin lids to boot
