Moreton Bay Charter
Myself and 4 friends spent yesterday floating around Moreton Bay on a guided Charter.
We met Bob Kozien and his 6 Metre 'Mega Punt' at 5.30 am at the Coast Guard Boat Ramp at Cleveland.
First spot fished was Peel Island for Reefies. After a couple of 'shifts' and plenty of Burley, a few nice Squire/Sweetlip went into the Ice Slurry.
When things slowed, we had the first of many tactical changes for the day. Over to a little rocky Island close to Peel (the name eludes me for the moment ) to throw huge lumps of Mullet Gut at It's population of quality Bream. A couple of Personal Bests were achieved in the frantic session to follow. 40cm Bream are a spectular sight when being dragged out of clear, boulder infested water.
We gave the Bream a break, caught a nice feed of Diver Whiting just North of Peel Is, then took off to a more central Bay location to send down a few 'Livies' for a Snapper.
Unfortunately No Snapper on this occassion, Bob explained that he lands a Snapper in the 6 - 9 kg class every 2 or 3 trips (so if I go on two more charters, I should see one ).
Longtail Tuna appeared in small pods all over the place but the Lead sluggs hurled there way were ignored on this occassion. Bob's previous Charted yielded 2, 12kg specimens of these Piscatorial Torpedoes.
A great day was had by all with many thanks to Bob for Baiting our hooks, rigging our Rods and cleaning all the fish. We each took home a couple of feeds, which included Fillets and Whole Fish.
Look forward to my next trip out with him on the 28th of May.
Cheers
Craig.

Re: Moreton Bay Charter
Can I ask.... How much does he charge for such a trip?
I am needing some new fishing spots to go to..... may as well pay someone to show me and not have to clean up the boat after

Re: Moreton Bay Charter
If you guys want to put together a crew to go out, I'm definitely in, sounds like he gives you a lot of options to catch a fish or two.

Re: Moreton Bay Charter
Sorry for the slow reply, I've been 'Off-Line' for the long weekend.
The price for the Charter is $100 per head. It includes all quality tackle (Baitrunners, Chem Sharp hooks etc), Fresh Bait (worms, Mullet Gut, Tuna, Squid etc), Soft drinks.
All you are required to bring is food !! and a hat and Camera.
Bob prefers to keep the numbers per Charter down to 4 or 5 people, so you have plenty of room to crank in the big ones.
It's a full day Charter, leave at 5.30 and return around 3 to 4 pm.
I have a Charter booked for the 28th of May (Ausfish members) that is full, I might be keen to organise another in late June if anyone is interested ??
Bob Kozien can be contacted by Mobile Phone on 0438700759.
Cheers
Craigie.
By the way, Sav caught one of the 40cm Bream and a second fish that went 38 cm.
