    Jacobs Well sandflats

Went down to Jacobs well with a box of silver jigs and a handful of small to medium lures from nilsmasters to poltergeists. Was hoping to hook up on a flathead or two on some hard lures but bought a packet of the humble prawns if the lures didnt fire. Caster about what seemed like 100 times of about 6 types of lures ranging from metal shiny jigs to deep diving rattling lures. To no avail I changed to the humble prawn rigged on a whiting longshank chemically sharpened hook. After a few near missed I hooked a few good sized whiting and a very good bream which went 33 cm all which were released. I fished the bottom of the low right on dusk, but i walked a fair way up the sand flats to the north of the boat ramp, I was wondering if there was many flathead in this areas accessible from the beaches? And another thing how do i tell what a flathead lie looks like ? where the Flathead has been lieing on the sand when the tide was further in ? As this might give me a better idea if any flathead are around ? Any help would be good. Thanks for your time and may your rods bend and your drags smoke!

Flathead lies look like this, dont count on seeing them though, some areas fish well with no marks.
