No worries bugman, i dont seem to get any fish at all from the lower pipeline but ALWAYS loose gear on the inward drift. But pick up fish in one certain spot almost every drift, i have soundered out around it and sure thats the 2nd pipeline.
Absolutely on the slack tide thing, the run out can cause some pretty serious swell action in there alright especially on a East\N.E wind..
How deep did you dive ? i was keen to throw on a mask when i am out there at slack water as dont get a nibble for that hour or so but its around 30m where i want to be by the time i get down there would run out of air
Spent yesterday moring snorkelling around the north wall of wavebreak island, the amount of fish life is amazing. Fantastic structure finaly understand why i have heard so musch about jigging from the roclk walls saw two schools of kingies about 50cm long and countles huge bream and whiting in the shallows.
A real eye opener - as you wher saying is good to get a fish eye view of what is underneath. The north wall is definatly on my list of places to fish over the xmas break
