The weather came good with the predicted winds of 5/10 kts in the morning. The plan was to chase macks at the beacons and the try for some cobia
Left bribie at 4.00 am with calm conditions all the way to the beacons. Tossed slugs all over the place for no takes, maybe it was the pink braid I was using? I then used pilchard and the liveys for two 2 mackeral….
Score 3 bait jigs and 3 ganged hooks...
Off to chase some cobia at spot x, anchored up and started to berley and set the rods.
Used the downrigga but problems do exist with the set up, wheel needs a deeper grove because the wire kept coming off. By the way I used the bomb to lower my berley bucket to the bottom. Wrong move because some over size shark decided to have it for dinner.
One losted 10 lb lead bomb
Caught some small sweetlip and used them for liveys
Both baits were smashed by large cobia that busted me off and then a shark.
Ausfish member “bobp” and treasurer of the power boat anglers radio me and asked where, so bob joined me, we didn’t need the radios any more as we could just talk
Run out of bait and then did some trolling, nil results but this I do not know much about as present.
The wind starting picking up so I headed for home
Magnificent day on the water.
