Nice fish - my best only went to 10kg at the top end of Fraser Island.
Getting seasick just looking at the photo!!
Never heard of anyone keeping them that size, is ciguatera not common in your area.
Who took the photo, Picasso?
Fishing for the thrill, not for the kill
They did try to release this fish.
I was not in a good condition for release.
Eating - not me
Top fish how many worms were in the flesh, i use to work at the markets and anything over 3kg were full of worms, black usually and what the filleters didnt nick out cooked up clear anyway, so you didnt know what you were eating , still in all a top fish.
cheers
joe.
I have to agree with other comments. Take a pic and send her back.
Ciguatera is rampant in very large fish and in particular fish that are non-migratory.
Good effort though.

Makes me long to be back home in Bowen.
While out at the Swains one of the guys speared a 12kg version.
Beautiful fish - had browny stripes - I'll round up the photo next week.
Obviously couldn't be released - filleted with each fillet cut into about 10 portions. No worms - no sickness tasted great.
Bugman
THAT REALLY DOESNT LOOK HEALTHY
why doesnt it looke healthy charles? i reckon the fish looks fit as a fiddle....as for the person that decides to consume it, that may be a different story
hey bugman, im sure he woulda swum off alright after they pulled the spear head out
The boys said it tasted great.
The fish was shared out between the clients.
I agree Charles, it doesnt look healthy, the reason for this is the fact it is DEAD.
Al
geez that is really a fish of a life time
would of been a hell of a fight speacaily first up with it trying to get back into it's home!
did ya catch anything else that day or did the trout do ya in
I think if the deckie hadn't gaffed it they probably could have released it.
great fish though.
then it realy gets ughly
