Hilliard's Creek this afternoon/evening
Greetings all,
Went fishing with the g/f at the mouth of Hilliards creek this afternoon from about 1330-1730. G/f used bait, whilst I threw a metal slug lure back and forth through the creek.
Got a small Estuary Cod (28cm) on the bait, first cast. Second cast with the lure got the Flathead pictured below (56cm). Action was quiet from then for about 1.5 hours. Got about 7 or 8 Bream on the bait, kept one pictured below (27cm).
Used strips of Mullet for bait.
Ended up keeping just the Flathead and the 1 Bream.
(Sorry picture quality may be a bit ghey...100kb restriction.)

Maria,
I fished there a couple of weeks ago. Early morning on a run in tide.Threw soft plastics up and down from the mouth to the first fork (just past the "boat ramp"). Didn't get a touch. Had some crab pots in at the time but no keepers. Did see a lot of garfish on the flats just outside where the channel forms to get into the creek and thought it might be fun to chase them some time. My local tackle guy has given me a few reports of some good flatties being caught in the creek. Maybe next time.
