    jumpinpin

Thanks to a top forecast an offshore trip was on.

reefmaster came along heavily burdened by the oversize tackle, and we were off to the pin bar to test it out I believe its all in one piece it wasnt an easy crossing with breakers all over the place but we made it out to what were glassed off conditions.

We went a long way north and found green water out to 70m, not good for marlin fishing but you gotta try. After a couple hours of no bites we were out near 90m in somewhat better water, i was asleep or close to it greg wide awake im sure when out of the monotony the short corner lure was belted, greg jumped onto the rod and the marlin took to the air in a matter of seconds it was well out after a good 5 jumps and then the hook came out, ****.

that was our one shot and with the water generally looking worse all the time some bottom bashing was called for, the pinnacle had some nice squire for this time of year and we ran out of bait before we could get a nobby cheers for a top day Greg.

thanks again rob for the trip and showing me a thing or two on the marlin fishing. I had my big kahunas with me and made the bar crossing alot easier But i must say when we came in over the bar with waves breaking all around that your face showed a little concern when the motor cavitated and we were soon going no where with a nice roller gaining on us but all was good.

    Cheers Greg Rob with dinner

    Re: jumpinpin

welllllllllllllllllllllll................ you think you had bad marlin water!! after a few hours bottom donging for little result i decided to chase a billy. spot x sounded like a good starting point, but on arival the water was muddy brown, so i kept going to the 50m line, water still murky light green... put the lures out and trolled to the 60 meter line and went north for a bit but the water was worse than in close!
    my results for the day
    4 grassies ( one was about 60cm's)
    1 pearly
    2 longtails
    numerous mac tuna
** had a school of juvenile red emperor under the boat and got 2 that were over the OLD legal size of 45cms' >
