    BARWONS SATURDAY

Left mooloolaba at 4am for a resonable trip to the banks. Within 30 mins of being there we boated 7 snappery squire best going just under 7kg. Each drop resulted in a good fish. After that things went really quiet. Ended up with our bag limit of snapper and 1 pearly. Pulled the pined by 11 for a glassed out run home. Attached some pics 1st one is the 7 snappery squire caught and the other is coming on.

Nice Fish. Sounded like a great day all round.
I personally would promote any 7kg fish to full Snapper status.
I have usually called them Snapper at about 4.5kg especially if they have the bump. Actually I don't recall catching much over 7kg anyway. When are they usually deemed Snapper?

Looks like you had the better of the weather up north today. Down the Tweed the sou. wester blew most of the nite and it was ordinary this morning with only a short lull mid morning . Alright if you are in a big boat . No current in close down here I kid you not . Fished unweighted pillies that came back under the boat it was so slow. Scraped up a bag limit of big squire just the same with much effort and burley.

we fished the 18 mile for billfish today to no avail. had one shot early am.. then the dolphins made a pest of themselves chewing most baits we put out.
moved to the banks for a bottom bash for an hour or so late arvo and got a couple of reefies.

    Phill..
My son and I ended up out at the banks from 10am till 8pm(father and son bonding session).
Tried a few spots for pearlies, parrot and a couple of small kingies...also had a Marlin clear the water 50m away from us, chasing flying fish, which were every where.
Anchoured up on a dropoff in 40m for the night time bash..set up a nice berley trail..
Pulled up alot of fish, but found the peak time was 6pm till 8pm, when we left them biting...
    Tally was Jacks x 3(to 55cm), red emporer x 4(to 49cm),squire x heaps(40cm to 55cm)pearlies x heaps(to 40cm) and other bits and pieces... every drop resulted in a fish.
Kept a pearly and and a jack for a feed, as our freezer blew up >.
Good to get the boat wet again..

    Re: BARWONS SATURDAY

Jeez, guys I don't know what happened, but someone on our boat pooh poohed the Fish God big time.

Bugman will no doubt post up here as well, so I'll be brief in my account.

Hit the water at about 1pm on the nth Ramp at Moloolaba, heading to baitgrounds. Well we searched and searched, and we etc etc. Bugga me, 2 grinner, 2 whiptails and a Hussar. OK to the deep water. Hit the Tiger Kelly with Bugman and crew already over their first drift. We downed baits and Ray got a 40cm Squire. But every drift after, right on top of the wreck produced zip, zilch, none, nup, nuttin ! ??? ??? ???

I saw fish, and saw baits, basically going thru them, but do you think those Pearlies would have a nibble ? Nope !

4.30ish and we had to make plans, so headed back west ( ish ) where we ran over the ledge. Nuttin. To ( 30k's more ) Wide Caloundra area. I have many GPS marks of this area and cruised over most of them, only to find it a barren waste land. Normally ( whenever that is , well, every other time ), fish life abounds, and one seeks the better coloured shows.

Ray donged a 2+kg Pearlie on some no where area while between marks.

Ended up at wide-ish Currimundi. Finally saw fish on the Furuno, but tilley Wackers , they were ! > A few Barracuda came on board, with the obligatory Red Rock Cod.

11 ish, we pulled the pin, convinced that what I had posted in Ausfish on Tuesday, had in fact happened. But, only to us ? go figure.

NOW< is some people here Fish Magnets, or are the ReBait crew, losing it ?

Weather was great, maybe too great. Many boats out, but most had left the car park by our arrival back at base.

Criagie and Brookesy should be posting here as well. At this stage I haven't heard how they went. I hope the fish DIDN"T bite in the morning ( well , for MY sake anyway ), but, hope they did really for the others.

No pics due to Technicial difficulties

    Cheers Phill
