Headed out to a special spot in the Rouse to see if we could catch ourselves a few squire/snapper for dinner. We were using diver whiting/ pilchards and squid for bait . I also was chucking a few zoom fluke jr around and got hammered by a nice 38 cm squire. As you can see a nice snapper was caught not the biggest but the only bay snapper I have seen caught in the bay with my own 2 eyes. Im guessing around 4kg or so We also got 5 other squire ranging from 38 up to 48 cm. All in all a great arvo / night.
Mate, I think you have cracked the code on these Bay Snapper. Am following your results with interest, stick at it, I think a thumper Nobby is just around the corner
Hey guys the long range forecast looks good for a Saturday night out on the bay chasing some snapper.......who,s in and where should we head to????? Rouse, bulwer drop off, mud....maybe the blue hole area.......We might need Webby to leed the way..lol
Throw some ideas in the ring and we can decide friday night.
Cheers Brent ;
Bazz, with that on film, You probably never need to catch anything bigger. I'd just lounge back thinking,, been there ,, done that.
Unless you really want to get frustrated, I would not follow Webby around. Craigie and a few others can probably vouche for me,, you can even be in the same boat, let alone the same proximity and he will catch all the fish and you get all the undersize. I just don't get it. I have seen it and I still don't know how it happens.
Anyways,, Hopefully I will be able to get out there on Friday before the rush hour and have a bit of luck. Others have said that they have taken 5 years before getting their first day snapper so I figure I still have 4 years before I should start to get concerned as I have only been bay fishing for a year.
