Had the privelege of fishing with dfox " David" in his mammoth Cat in the North hards region this morning.
We left Mooloolaba ramp at around Half past midnight for the approx 3 hour ride out in a comfortable 10-15 head wind, after sounding around a bit we got first lines down at about 4 30 ish.
We were there in the hope of finding Big reds, however what we struck was a Pearlie Marathon... Nearly Every drop before it reached the bottom resulted in A pearlie. The pearlies were all great quality " 2.5 - 4 kg range" .
We also managed to score a massive esky full of cobes, AJ's , Maori cod & a lone parrot.
I dropped 2 cobes at the side of the boat and thought I was doomed to be jinxed never to catch one.... This however changed as the "Last drop" was called... I slathered up a whole mullet fillet on a single 10/0 and caught the final fish of the day being a 16.5kg Cobe... I was a very happy,,, yet very tired man...
We ended up heading back for mooloolaba at about 930am ....
This was the best 5 hours of offshore fishing I have ever experienced... and am waiting willingly for my next trip out with David....
Attached are pics of the day ....
