    Townsville

Well, back home from Townsville. Fished near the rock pool last Saturday night, landed none but got wrapped around kissing point by a sub (must have been by the weight of the thing).

Tried the pier on the strand Sunday night, got a trev up to the timber, then was out done by my future son in law who landed a bigger trev. Tuesday night the lad landed a nice 29cm bream. I only managed landing a small sting ray, although something wrapped my uglystick up took about 100 mtrs of line out toward maggie before the maxima let go.

Friday morning, we tried the old boat ramp at the end of Cameron Street, but that was dead. By the bits of line and rubbish there, some have tried there before us. (Suspect with the same ability and luck )

Must say though, that for a feed of seafood, seeing I could not catch any, Timms at the rock pool was fantastic.

Bit of murphys law .... the motel owner informed us, as we booked out, that he does quiet well straight off the beach right in front of the motel.

    We will be back.

Wally's Bar and Resturant is also very good for a seafood smorgasboard - last time I was there they had a baked fingermark that put my pride in it's place.

Coulda been worse cq most of the spots you tried are very wind dependant and inconsistent. The pier and rock pool has been hammered by fishers (both local and visiting anglers). If you come up again make sure you try out the breakwater, Lakes stage 1., Louisa Creek, or the weirs as all of these have been producing. Most of last week I spent playing basketball and swimming only meters from where you were fishing. And I agree with you, the fish and chips at Timms is very good

I have probably missed the obvious Bad_Bubby, but er, I could not find a way onto the breakwater. I thought it was out past the entertainment centre, but no parking in that area. Buses only. I thought the marina was the go, but no fishing allowed. I didn't get time to try the lakes. Drove past a few times, but the look on the wifes' face ( > ) gave me all the incentive I needed in that respect. . Will be back in late November for a one day workshop, then fly out on the Sunday, staying at the Merc of all places. Can still only look.

Ah well, I'm sure the water and fish will still be there for our next break up there.

Hey better luck next time (or maybe the time after next?lol). The breakwater is that massive rock wall that hugs the northern mouth of Ross Creek (where the tankers go through). I'm one of those crazy cyclists so I've never experienced the parking dillemma although I'd probably say its less painfull than push biking the barra in my avatar to Aiteknvale .

I'm pretty sure you can park at the restaurant outside the casino that looks over the marina (the name escapes me). From there its a matter of walking adjacent to the casino to fish the marina or behind the entertainment centre to fish the breakwater. The eastern rock wall of the marina is the only side allowed for fishing .

Merc? u mean the Mecure Hotel ???. If so then you might find yourself drooling at people hauling in barra and giant herring in stage 1. lakes as it tends to fire then. Maybe I should shut up now

Yeah, park at Jupiters or at the quarterdeck (directly across the road). Still a pretty long walk out to the end of the breakwater and an even longer walk back if you don't catch anything.

    Re: Townsville

cq the parking at the entatainment centre does not become a ticket factor (fine) unless there is somthing on there
