up my prawn creek got marauder big large pike. never seen em in there before,one came at me.. i swear that it wanted to eat me so i scooped the lil bugger. up a nother creek got bobmer by krazy killer camakazi lizzards in the half to a meter range. me being all tall and tree like i netted those lil buggers too. wasn't gonna take a chance as hanging man hood may look like a branch to them. all up ended up with two live poddies and two dozzen or so prawns. wnet to the jack spot 1 for a throw, just wasted them on small bream. jacks arent here yet it seems. nailed two good giant herring on small popper but thats about all. lots of mean sounding chops up river but. maby the jacks were mashing up there. if not barra, but i dont think so. thread fin salmon.... now thats a different question.

I know what you mean about those big pike! ...A few years back I was dragging one of those 50ft bait nets with a couple of mates in a creek up near Townsville. I was on the beach end of the net (not stupid ) as there are some BIG "lizzards" up there . Anyway as we start to bring the net into shore I noticed a large (~2 foot) Pike on the surface nosing the net. As we were only after poddies/herring I thought I'd wade in and let him go...as my hand reached outwards to grab him behind the head the seemingly placid fish suddenly swung around, jaws wide open and full of inch long (I swear) teeth. I was suddenly in quick retreat almost walking on water to escape the charging fish which actually beached itself, jaws snapping, trying to get me! Imagine if these things grew to 50-60lb
