Cairns Inlet last Saturday

After the Hinchinbrook trip Snelly got me hooked on luring again so Moffy and I went for a quick trip up the Inlet Saturday despite the poor tides.
Third cast I had a Jack in the boat while Moffy was still rigging up! He quickly caught up though with an nice Jack of his own at just over 45 cm, lovely fish. He then followed it up with a Flathead believe it or not. Overall we lost more fish then we caught including a run of snags by me where I lost 3 fish in 3 snags, 2 were Barra. 4 or 5 Barra were lost although none would have been legal plus afew Barracuda. Might have a go when the tides are good this weekend. Need a boat but

These things were around the Hinchinbrook a fair bit too. The only one we caught and I couldn't manage to get 3 others too strike.

Nice fish there Mark. How far up the inlet were you? What lures did you get the jacks on?

We weren't that far up the inlet - just a trundle up Skeleton creek for the bigger jack. Mark's was actually caught in smith's creek still in the 6 knot zone.

He was using a gold Tilsan Barra. i had a red/black Flatz Rat which now has some nice new teeth marks on it
