    Northern Moreton Bay 28/11

Went out to NW12 this morning 5:00am after good forecast on buoyweather.com last night. Brother and I were amazed at the glassy conditions (Wind 0-2 kts, swell 0.3 m).

Great run from Bribie and plenty of boats with same idea. Jigged up the biggest herring we've ever seen at NW12 and drifted back Bulwer direction. 9 schoolies in all (kept 2 for BBQ), plus junior hammerhead (thought we'd hit the record schoolie!)

Headed home at 10am chasing bonito schools. Too calm so easily spooked, although we got plenty of follows with the slugs. Back in as wind got up about 12:00pm. Best water condition we've seen for awhile and plenty of bait. Some longtails working out wide, but only small schools.

Yep, sure was a nice day out up there yesterday. We thought the same thing when my mate hooked a hammerhead while drifting over the banks. Saw you up at the NW12 - man there is some run. Ya need 500g of lead to get the jig down.

We got onto a few schoolies as well with the best going just under 3kg. Great fun on a baitcaster!!!

Had a bit of a quick fish over near Moreton before heading back to Newport to add a nice squire & sole to the bag.

Here is a shot of some of the schoolies. Cheers.

Hey Fish Frame I saw you up there on Sunday in the hornet and you said you had a spotty on board while jigging for bait.. liar thats a schoolie in the pic!!

We got 2 * 70cms schoolies and lost about 4 others. Your right about the longtails, very small and patchy schools, otherwise looks promising in a month or so
