    D.I charter

went out on a noosa blue water yesterday after getting no sleep and driving three hours from midnight to 3.45 at tewantin, and they decided to give double island a crack. took about hour and half to get there in the swell. anyways straight up pulled a mixed bag of reef fish, parrot, tailor, and numerous squire. most things were either just legal or undersize but plenty of action. i then hooked up to a decent fish which fought well went a 12 lb red emperor. had a break and sat down for a bit and shortly after i discovered that my sea sick tablets didnt work and spent the rest of the trip as head burley person. during this time we moved a couple times and each time fish were still biting well, and eventually a couple larger snapper came onboard 6, 7.5kg. numerous tailor and huge catfish showed up along with a reef shark. at the end of the session (best news for me in my state) one fella realised he was on, and after few secs three other guys realised they were also connected to his line. at this point a huge marlin came dashing out of the water near the boat and things then clicked as to what the fella had on the end of his reef rig and pillie. it was a mad dash then to cut the tangles free including from the prop. and after a long fight and many more jumps landed this nice fish about 5 foot long, 30kg? the guy who got it had never fished before so he learnt how to very quickly. so yeah along with whales and dolphins splashing about and very professional skipper and deckie, was a good day out. id recommend them to anyone. i may get a copy of some pics soon.
    cheers Luke

forgot to mention we had a livie out the back most of the time which was hammered by a bonito and many other things dropped off. so why the marlin didnt like this i dunno. also to make me look better one of the other guys a pom who convinced his work mates to take him fishing lasted only five minutes and spent rest time lieing in the hull dry heaving into a rag, think we left at a good time cause he couldnt speak/move/breathe. funny how it gets so bad for some, though he didnt get any fresh air in there.

    I can't friggin believe this!

Why do you all sound so suprised?

    Put in the hard yards....have a spew.....catch a marlin.

    That's the way it works.

itching to see the pics...sounds like a productive trip!

A pile of orange juice always washes down well......people who do well at ball sports have a higher probability to ralf with seasickness.

    Enough burley I guess.....

Cloudy, the pillie is actually a raw herring with a smattering of raw onions + gurken. They go down well....... but I don't know if they substitute for qwells.

Ginger beer, gingernut biscuits, ginger pieces, etc etc, bloddy great for stopping sea sickness.
Take your tablets,in conjunction, but try Travel calm, rather than Quells, as they can make you sick, as they are hard on the stomach.
Also the tabs wear off, so you need to retake them on board.

Talk to the chemist about which Travel calm, as one will make you sleepy and the other doesn't.
