    The Bay Saturday

What difference a few days make, earlier in the week the beacons were loaded with doggies and they hit every lure, and no spotties about.
Today you couldnt find a doggies anywhere, especially using slugs. Those drifting with pillies caught the odd one or two, but the were scarce.
That old saying no run no fun certainly proved it self today.
So after borrowing a few pillies off Chiefgismo (think thats who it was, sorry if the names wrong).
We started the drifts, but it wasnt a doggies that came aboard first after a lengthy tussel, but camerons hookup to a decent yellowfin, which put up a good fight.
After a couple more drifts, decided to head to the paddock between mud and the sandhills, and no sooner arrived, and their were spotties breaking the surface everywhere, only small school, as we only manage 1 per school, and after 5-6 trips back and forth across the bay we headed back in around 2pm with 7 spotties and the fin.
Few Ausfishers about Aquaries, Reel Hard and Chiefgismo ????
PIc below of the average size spotties and the fin.
    regards

That is a good tuna for the young gun Brian. Sushi tonight.

pretty sure that is a longtail Webby. The yellow flukes along the tail can be confusing.

Good work Brian.....you must know how to sneak up on those macks........We had several stops on the way back from Tangas but each time they dissapeared after 1 cast......Think they were tuna.
We ended up back at Wello around high tide and manged a feed of squire to 39cms......plastics were hard goin today.
Will give that mark ago next time at Mud.

"As far as im concerned its a stinking tuna, last thing on my fishing list."

That decent size tuna I posted last week was the first fish, other that one or two bream, that my brother in law has ever caught. We were cleaning it at Redcliff as someone decided to walk past and tell Adam (bro in law) that it's not worth cleaning and it's only good for bait and burley. Now, that was the first Adam didn't smile from since he landed it. Now I don't care if I saw someone cleaning a 20cm grinner. If they're stoked then it's a good catch for THEM in my book. Now hope it wasn't you Webby as I don't mean disrespect, but this bloody John West wannabe can keep to himself next time. Northern bluefin is not a highly rated eating fish although to be honest, it's one of my favorite. I rate it above snapper, mackeral, dolphin fish, jew, kingfish ect and on par with emperor, tusk fish, sweetlip and barra. Thats not a common opinion but if you catch a bluefin (longtail) and don't like them, please try to keep the fight short and release them as they are awesome sport fish and good eating for a few of us. Anyway, a good catch Webby.

    Brian,

I'll give you a clue, the hat in the avtar should help.

Good to bump into you literally at the beacons today and seeing Cameron stretch the arms a bit today on the tuna. Glad I could help you out with the pillies.

We only managed 6 for the day and a few bust offs when we called it quits,

    Re: The Bay Saturday

Ray in all my sons excitement, when u yelled out the name, i didnt quite catch the name Thanks for the pillies mate as i only had big slimies on board.
The old 10kg on the tss4 certainly made him work . best fish my son has pulled from the bay.
Gave your boat name a call on 73 when we found the spotties, to let you no.but u must ave been busy
Fishinmission, i have no disrespect for any fish especially after a good fight except bloody grinners which never leave my boat alive.

Nthrn end of bay very quiet for spotties, was out of the cape and saw a massive school of those L.T's probably 50m in diameter , I think they scared all the other species away. [smiley=thumbsdown.gif] Managed to hook a couple of cobes swimming away from the tuna, but a very qiet day for mackeral
