    Another Moreton Bay Report 16/01

I wasn't planning a trip out but the weather looked so good this morning, I decided to head out at lunch time for an afternoon on the Bay.

We tried the beacons for Macs but nothing was happening, so we headed over to Moreton to catch a feed of whiting. Also put out a floater in case a Mac came past and it payed off with one boated and another one pulled the hooks just as I got him to the boat .

In the end we got 18 whiting, 1 flathead and 1 Doggie, which wasn't too bad for only about 2 hours fishing.

It was a top afternoon on the bay with the weather being close to perfect. Took a couple of pics.

    Cheers

And this is the whole catch. The whiting look like bait beside the Mac, but they are great eating.

Its abit hard to tell in the photo , but the whiting look a reasonable size for Winteries .

Well done. Seems you need a bit more ice and a bit less blood in the eskie .

Vertico, yep that is the sandhills in the background, which is where we caught the whiting & Mackerel The two Mackerel I hooked up on both hit in crystal clear water less than 3m deep. They make for a great sight when you can watch them as they are running hard in crystal clear shallow water.

Peter, they are reasonable winter whiting, all between 23 & 25cm, although that is pretty average for the sandhills area. The average size for Winteries is usually much bigger over there, and I have had trips where most fish are 25- 30cm.

    Cheers,
